Bus Transport
Please click here for more details if you prefer to head along to this event as a group. Transport leaves from Trusts Stadium.
Start / Finish Venue & Carparking
The start / finish venue is Shadbolt Park. The registration area will be set-up very close to the roundabout at the Portage Road / Golf Road intersection (incidentally this is the start line too). The small rugby clubrooms carpark can be used for parking but we expect this to fill quickly. Additional road parking will be available on Portage Road, Kinross Road and other surrounding streets. Please keep in mind that 5-10 minute walks to the registration area may be inevitable especially for the half marathon field so please arrive with plenty of time up your sleeve and please carpool wherever possible.
Late Registration
All 'out of towners' have the option of picking up their race number, event transponder and event race pack on the morning of the event. If this will be the case for you please email me - " lukeg at totalsport dot co dot nz " or - to contact me via email using an antispam email method.
This registration area will be open from approx 5.30am. We suggest all late registration marathon entrants arrive as close to 5.30am as possible & all late registration half marathon entrants arrive as close to 6.30am as possible. Late registration for marathon entrants closes at 6.05am - half marathon at 7.35am.

Race Day - Saturday September the 19th - the event
The Race Start
Gary Lydiard will be starting the event on the airhorn at the intersection of Golf Rd / Portage Rd. Self seeding will apply. All competitors have approx 200 - 300m of road (essentially up until the first corner) available before the course moves strictly to the footpaths - all competitors must comply with this.
Course Markings / Marshals
The course is well laden with event marshals and they will be placed at all key areas on the course. The event course is the footpath. In certain areas where no footpath exists the course will be the far left hand shoulder of the road.
In only one case (a small section through the Titirangi shops) will runners be running into traffic without a footpath.
This represents a change from last year's course and will be marshaled well. Competitors will need to follow all directional signage (red arrows on a white corflute backing) and obey all instructions from both our event marshals and Traffic Management NZ crew.
Drink Stations
Info regarding km placement, location and what's available at each can be found on the events information page.
The final drink station for both courses has been relocated from being post Titirangi roundabout to approx 200m prior to this roundabout on a wide section of footpath on Scenic Drive.
On the marathon course aid station 4 has also been relocated slightly so it is closer to aid station 3 - cutting down the distance between those two points.
Km Markings
Small corflute signage will be erected every 2km on the respective courses. This signage should provide you with a relatively accurate guide of where you are on the course. Aid station marshals will know the distance at their respective points but please don't rely on them feeding you this information - self education prior to the event is always healthy.
Course Changes
As mentioned months ago there are two small changes to the marathon course. One is that the 7km loop is attacked first (instead of last like in 08') and the western end out and back section on exhibition drive has been extended slightly to bring the marathon to the full 42.2km distance. One last minor change which effects both courses is the switch to staying on the right hand side of the road through Titirangi Village all the way until your right hand turn into Godley Rd.
The Race Finish / Course Cut Off
Competitors will be marshaled across Portage Road and onto Shadbolt Park. In the finish shute look for signage as marathon and half marathon competitors will be split at this point. Course cut-off for both courses is noon.
